[applause] as nevada prepares to celebrate 150 years of statehood, we must also consider how far we have come and prepare for what lies ahead. 2014 is not just the anniversary of nevada's statehood. it also marks the centennial year of the approval of women's suffrage in our state. nevada gave women the right to vote in 1914, five years before the rest of the nation adopted the 19th amendment in 1919.
